How is a grease trap cleaned?

Cleaning a grease trap starts with pumping and scraping of grease and sludge from the traps and interceptor systems. Once the sludge is removed and the system is clean our expert technicians will perform an inspection of the grease trap system to ensure that everything is working properly. Inspection records and any maintenance suggestions will be made available to customers.

Why grease traps need cleaning?

One common cause of a commercial septic system failure is the lack of pumping of grease traps. Rooter-Man recommends that when grease is 1 foot deep in a tank that is 4 feet deep, the grease floating on top of the tank should be pumped out including the sludge at the bottom of the tank. However, many municipal health departments require a twice a year complete pumping of the grease trap even if the grease deposit has not reached the 25% level.
